Standing Time (1 of 5)
Standing Time.
Signed Edition of 5. (Meaning ONLY five of these prints will ever be made)
A photograph taken of an aged Leadwood Tree standing in the Madikwe Reserve, encompassed by the local giraffes. The Leadwood is one of the largest trees in Africa, and gets its name from having wood that is extremely dense and heavy. As such, it is impermeable to termites and is one of the only wood species that sinks when thrown into water. This hardiness explains why the leadwood’s imposing skeleton will remain intact up to 80 years after it has died.
In the wake of spending 10 incredible days in this reserve, it is unimaginable to think what has all occurred in the vicinity of this Leadwood’s lifetime. Its sturdiness through time and years of growth through the journeying of giraffes and the other thousands of species in the area is what this image tries to reflect.
15% of proceeds will be donated to the Madikwe Futures Company (NPC), who use a conservation model based in Madikwe Game Reserve to help uplift its local communities, protect its wildlife and save the rhino’s from poaching through implemented teams, technologies and infrastructures.
